This is our Forum Challenge Discussion for week 3 in Feb https: Please feel free to participate in this thread - even if you are not completing the challenge. Read this article and then discuss it: MTT Strategy My favorite line from this article is this: Can not agree on some points. Most MTT palyers have very bad deep stack playstyles beginning of mtt basicaly with wish not to lose BBs you fold EV good hands like 89s or overplay A9o.
Being to nitty in the begining will cause you to be dead for most of the tourney and leave you short stacked to fast and than what? The article I liked. My favorite part, the Tournament is a marathon, not a sprint. You can't win a multi-table tournament in the first few levels. I try to play as written in article, but game in deep stacks almost there is no.
Gives a basic breakdown on stages of MTT. Very good for beginners. I have different strategy for different tournies. I sometimes go hard out gate and play loads of hands looking for big stack early. Sometimes I play patient early wait for good hands. Sometimes I just skip the early stages and just buyin close to when registration closes.
Middle stages depends on table and stack size. Mostly patient but if opponents are tight or if I have a boatload of chips I get loose and aggro. When approaching bubble I apply apressure sometimes even with a small stack. After bubble there is the bust out bonanza with short stacks pushing relatively light. Great spot to pick up some chips if you can make a hand. During latter stages of tourney I always keep an eye on pay jump spots.
